“At first it felt like we were in an emergency situation and I wanted to help in any way I could. Then I realised there wasn’t lots I could do to help at this point so I spent many days self reflecting and thinking about my purpose in life. On this journey of self-reflection I started drawing at home and painting, cycling all over London, taking pics of what the pandemic looks like on the streets, taking courses and cooking food I never had before.
One of my highlights during this time was taking part in a Choose Love fundraiser aiming to cycle 1055 miles in 40 days. It was incredible to explore the city at a slow pace.
I now feel more connected to my neighbours than ever before! We’ve even had some socially distanced drinks together on Thursdays while clapping. I also rediscovered my neighbourhood through the Mutual Aid group, it’s nice to know that there are so many likeminded and caring people in the community. I can’t wait to meet everybody and be friends.”
