“Two years in London and I still didn’t feel properly settled.
I have a job I really like and have lots of friends. My work and social life are usually really fulfilling, but Covid took that away.
Suddenly working from home full time and only ever seeing my flatmates was really isolating and disorienting. It made me realise how rootless I felt in London.
Working with the Mutual Aid group was a really welcome way to feel like I was doing something constructive to respond to the crisis. It has been nice to get to know some of my neighbours, and it has helped me feel more grounded and connected to my local area.
I’m leaving the city in a couple of months, but I’m so glad that I had the chance to connect to my community before I left.”
